This is Lauren Ettlin's third season at Kam Wah Chung and eleventh season as an interpretive ranger - at parks in Oregon, California and Washington.
While away for the winter, she pursues her interests in watercolor painting and horticulture.
It's telling the Kam Wah Chung story in a way that's meaningful to the visitors - that's what keeps this job fun and rewarding. It's fascinating to meet visitors from Oregon and those who have traveled from as far away as the Netherlands or Korea. They're transported back to the days of the Wild West as they enter the doors of the historic building.
A teacher for 35 years, Lauren feels privileged to be part of the team telling the story at Kam Wah Chung.
