the friends of Kam Wah Chung Tours

The Museum & Interpretive Center are open 9 am to 5 pm daily from May 1 to Oct 31.  There is no cost for either the museum tour or Interpretive Center.  Donations are gladly accepted.

Tours of the museum last approximately 45 minutes and begin on the hour, the final tour at 4 pm.  Because of the small size of the rooms, tour groups are limited to 8 people.  You must register for a tour at the Interpretive Center prior to going to the museum with the tour guide.

The museum building dates from the 1860s.  Much of the content inside is over 100 years old and is not behind glass.  When taking a tour please remember:

  • Stay with the group & follow instructions from the tour guide.

  • The only photography allowed is without a flash.  A camera flash greatly degrades the original artifacts in the museum.  There are professional photos as post cards and in book form available in the interpretive center gift shop.

  • Pleased do not touch historical objects. This includes: sitting or leaning on furniture or walls, picking up or touching any item.

Interpretive Center

The Interpretive center can be explored at anytime during open hours.  More information can be found at the Interpretive Center page.

Both the museum & interpretive center are available for school group tours.  Please contact Christy Sweet, museum curator, 541-575-2800, well in advance of your planned visit to make special arrangements.  School tours traveling through this area before May 1 or after Oct. 31 may be able to arrange a special opening depending on staff and volunteer availability.
